I keep getting error messages saying that PC can't delete the temporary swap files. I end up with a bunch of files that I then have to delete manually. This just started happening more frequently a week or two ago. Does anyone else have this problem? Any tips on resolving it? (I'll email ES tomorrow...)
thanks,
patrick

I used to get these error messages in PC7 on a regular basis. Deleting the rogue files was an annoyance.
I've yet to get them with PC 8. _________________ John Cruet

I used to get those too in 7 and maybe 6. It's been a while now since I've seen that, and I don't know if we ever learned why they happen. _________________ Rob

| I found that in a decent size office this would tend to happen randomly from time to time for no apparent reason. However, it would happen much more frequently if you have antivirus software running on the server (or wherever the files are that you're saving). When PowerCADD saves a file, it actually saves a separate file (the swap temp file) first, then once it knows that file is saved and is intact, it deletes the old original file and replaces it with a copy of the swap temp file. This way, a crash during save will not destroy your file. The thing is, this happens so quickly that antivirus software that's constantly scanning memory and disk I/O can't always scan this operation fast enough. So PowerCADD can't delete the file because the antivirus software is busy trying to examine it. Spotlight indexing doesn't seem to be a problem, nor does Time Machine. |
