Pdf and copied Excel images do not go over into dwg. Is there a way to place in PowerCADD (6) so that they do show up in DWG files?

(It looks to me that a consultant used the same image, which I provided to him, in AutoCAD and it appears in a dwg file.)

If the data is PDF only -- then no -- it is basically a picture, and those don't translate. You could export the PDF item as JPEG or TIF, then have the AutoCAD user use the Insert command to combine the content at their end

If the data is coming from Excel as copy/paste (as opposed to print to PDF then using Place...), then yes -- it can be translated because it came thru as real objects. This article describes that process. The translated data is columns and rows of text blocks which can be edited.

I hope that helps

Thanks Huc. On the Excel paste. I hadn't done the convert to objects part. That will help.

As an experiment, I placed a jpg in a PC drawing as an xref and exported to dwg. As I expected, it didn't display the image in acad - but also showed me that xref's in powercadd don't translate at all when converted to dwg. Seems like that needs to be fixed.

You've reached a false conclusion based on an incomplete test; your referenced content used only a jpeg image.

Raster images do not, and have never, translated from PCD to dxf or dwg. The only method is to send it separately and do an insert operation in ACAD. That is true whether the raster image is in the original PCD document or in a referenced PCD file.

Referenced content in PCD does translate; the referenced content is automatically bound to the file when saving as dwg or dxf (with the exception of raster content as previously noted). That has always been the case.

Run your test again, this time reference a file with non-raster data, or a file that has both raster and non raster content. Then report back after running a complete test; if it's still not including the referenced content then something is wrong and more information and trouble shooting steps will be required.
