I use this very old setting but it still goes on through many years:
- Virtual PC 7 by Microsoft
- Windows 2000 Prof on Virtual PC
- Autocad 2000 with DWGgateway by SolidWorks, it enables Acad 2000 to open any DWG files until ACAD2007
- PowerCADD 7

iBook G4 PowerPC 1 GB SDRAM

Obvious not much fast, but it is possible to work, I daily have to work with acad files until 1997 (I think I'm using PowerCADD through all these years as a sort of "external module" of ACAD...)

Speaking of VPC, have any of you mac guys seen or tried this?
http://www.virtualbox.org/

I might give it a try on my OSX box and see how ACAD runs.

I haven't tried that, but was very satisfied with VMWare fusion, after using parallels for about 8 months. VMWare supports multiple processors and I saw a significant boost in performance from Autocad Architect 2008 (ADT). I was able to navigate complex drawings faster than I could on a dual core amd.
