I've found that when doing surveys, taking pictures can work out to be handy later on.
At times, it can be enough to prevent me from driving back out to get a dimension, or to finish a plan.
As with many things in life now --- I like convenience.
Some compact cameras around now days, ain't all that bad.
For me, it's a whole lot better toting a small or smaller camera.
There's a new kid on the block.
Not the first of its' sensor size, but the first micro 4/3's sized sensor camera, that is sized close to that of a compact ---- but with interchangeable lens --- for better image quality.
The high ISO pictures of this larger sensor compact / rangefinder sized camera --- look good. The amount of anti-aliasing, noise reduction and limited smearing, appear to give good looking results upon cursory examination of the pictures.
It would have been nice to of had an EVF (electronic view finder) in the upper left corner on the backside. Built-in flash would also have been nice.
I could understand not having an articulating LCD in trying to keep the thickness down. But seems they could of had better resolution on the LCD.
Anyway, I think this thing is along the lines, and certainly headed in the direction that a lot of folk have been waiting for.

I would love to start replacing all of my old Rollei SLR equipment with digital modern stuff. But I fear I don't really want to lug all of that stuff around anymore.
I have an Olympus point and shoot digital I take on projects with me..... the card doesn't hold alot, but the pictures are clear and the camera shell is built like a tank.
Sometimes I think it would be great to buy an old Stereo Realist again or an old Rollei Twin Lens..... then reality sets in and I remember I sold my darkroom equipment years ago.
You have to wonder if digital equipment and Photoshop have pretty much ruined real photography. There was a time that the best photographers really had to be knowledgeable in the darkroom (1/2 chemist 1/2 artist). |
