Our old wide format printer (HP455CA) is on it's last legs, and I'm asking for advice on what to replace it with. We're using the latest version of Powercadd with the latest OS10 on a new G4 iMac and 2 olderG4s. We need a 24" printer with at least 1200x1200 resolution. It seems that the new HP printers don't work with OS10.

Any suggestions or comments anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

I too am about to retire my DesignJet 350C and buy new...my two choices are the HP DesignJet 130nr (around $1900) and the Epson 7600 (with net card) for around $3300. Both native drivers work fine with OSX I have been told...don't need no sucking RIPs.

I would rather have the Epson, but I'm not sure the extra $1400 is worth it for slightly better photo printing and edge-to-edge printing capability.

I am on the cusp of finally going OSX whole hog. I have 10.3.5, but still use OS 9.2.2 for most things.

Bought the HP Color LaserJet 2550n, on a lark, last week while at Office Depot ($700, which has the larger toner carts, included internal JetDirect ethernet and additional 250 page paper tray). So far am happy...6 or 7 color inkjet is still significantly superior for photo printing, but all-in-all, I am happy. I spend at least as much in ink each year as I did for this printer, so am sorta happy to partially weaning myself off inkjets.

I just ran some tests on a networked 120nr over ethernet.

Normal = 4 minutes flat

Best is 10 to 15 minutes.

Same speed for B&W & Color.

D sized sheets on a 24" roll.
