Whenever I open a PC2000 file using PC6 Snap to grid always switches itself on. I only ever use snap to grid using keyboard modifiers, and I always have to switch it off. Can this be fixed to default to off?
Also, although all my drawings are metric, the area units default to square feet.

Yeah, I also see this happen.
I also find it annoying when I drag some other file type, say a TIFF file, onto the PowerCADD icon in the dock that the drawing opens with imperial rulers etc.
Would it be possible to have PowerCADD open other file types into the Default Stationery set by the user? |

Some of the items that I wish were stored globally (rather than with a specific file) are:
snaps, 'print black and white', most of the 'show' items, and hatches... |

I agree with all of the suggestions above. I think that there should be an option to make the Drawing Setup selections global defaults for all instances when the default stationary is not loaded, especially the Snap and Show settings.
I would also like to see "Preview Drawing" in the Size tab go away. This function is not needed (you see the page breaks in the main drawing window) and causes problems when opening old (PCADD 2000 and older) files. These older files get "hung up" on drawing setup size when setting the page size for printing, I get a perpetual spinning rainbow ball and have to force quit and I believe that "preview drawing" is to blame. I have to copy the file and paste into a new document (the default stationary) where the "preview drawing" option is off and it works fine.
Also, an option to set the default font for fonts not available to something other than Times would be cool. |

I had the same problem with PC2000 drawings that had been previously printed to a non-100% scale. I't apparently due to an Apple bug in OS9 printing. Engsw has a plugin called Clearprintrecord that solves the issue. You can download it at:

It gives you an extra item at the bottom of the File Menu that resets your PageSetup. Preview Drawing will then work properly.

Yes, there seems to be a set of Super-defaults that we can't set that effect PC2000 files, dwg, PICT, TIFF and other files. I wish we had the ability to set our own preferences for these super-defaults. The others that bug me the most with all my older PC files is that Flip vertical axis is always turned off (I always have it on) and the 10° snap angle in the bottom right box is easy to miss when you look at the preferences. I HATE that 10° snap. Not only do I have no use for it, it makes it very easy to miss the other snaps. 40°, 45°, and 50° are too close to each other.

That reminds me to turn on Flip Vertical Axis. PowerCadd is the only program where "up" is a negative value!
