Discussion in the old forum indicates it is fairly common for the automated email send after you register to be "snagged" by Junk Mail filters (including ones at your ISP that may not announce the presence of email when you do not use "thier" client software.
Therefore, if the conformation seems late in arriving, a search of both local and ISP based Junk Mail folders is in order.
Search for: "Welcome of Design Community Forums"

I had trouble with the registration process and it was not due to email filters.
I think there was some glitch on the Forum side of things, as I was able to activate my account, but could not login.
Something was fixed over the wekend, as I can obviously login now.
