| Deselect Trim Wall and this will leave both the parallel lines and fill intact but cover these with a clear fill which will appear to have trimmed them

An alternate way to work is to not use the parallel wall tool fill but just the lines. Using the "trim walls" option on the door tool cut the lines and, IMHO, this makes all other work with the walls easier, including exporting to dwg.
I use the PowerCADD fill tool (the paint bucket) to fill the walls with a polygon on a separate lower layer. Then this layer can be turned off in some sheets where a fill is not wanted, and for certain operations where it would be a hindrance, such as dimensioning. Your wall lines have to be connected well and that can be a hassle. Good geometry is always helpful down the line.
There are a couple of tricks to using the paint bucket tool or fixing the resulting polygon as the tool does not work perfectly. One way to clean up a complex polygon made by the tool: draw a small rectangle within the confines of the polygon (but not touching it-e.g. inside one of the "rooms") and use the clip tool from the rectangle to the polygon. This will remove extraneous points and crossover lines. Always set such fills to "None" line fill and hairline thickness (as a precaution).
