I was very pleased to see that the PC v8.0.2 update added the "Drawing Scale" into the drawing toolbar. It is also nice that the label switches to "Layer Scale" when a layer with an assigned scale is active. (In the old Status Menu of v7 this was not the case, as the scale would always show the Drawing Scale even if you were on a layer with an assigned scale, which proved to be a bit confusing.)

I must admit I'm still a bit disappointed that you don't have the ability to change the drawing scale using a drop down menu as before without opening up the Drawing Setup. I suppose this option would only be possible if you were on a layer which didn't have an assigned scale, i.e. when "Drawing Scale" was visible. When "Layer Scale" was visible you would not be able to change the scale.

By the way, the other fixes in 8.0.2 are much appreciated too...

At the risk of exposing myself for the ungrateful wretch that I am, I'm going to say that I've got my fingers crossed that the text size of the Scale display in version 8.03 is large enough to actually read.

If you do not have 'small size' checked in the Customize Toolbar (obtained by control-click on the new toolbar) the size is pretty good.

The new update seems to be a great improvement.
I disappointed though that there is not a way to see what layer an object is on unless you right click it. There should be some kind of indicator in the layer window.

The layer does show up in the Edit window if you leave it open. After thinking about it, it does seem like a logical spot for it since it is a "property" of the object.

Is the text size in the Edit Window readable on a 30" screen in v 8.0.2 ?

I think it is readable. Plus, in PC8, you have the option of increasing the font size (i.e. zooming) in the edit window so that it is readable.

You should have gotten an email from ES with instructions (a somewhat onerous looking process until you actually do it). Since you apparently haven't gotten it, I would call ES to get it. I would also suggest you print the email to be able to easily reference it before you do the update.

I had the email but the process was so wired that I thought it was sent by misteke at me... Rolling Eyes

Also, when I tried the process at point no. 9 no password was requested but only a message that there are no updates available.

I wrote an email to ES and I will wait their answer hopefully...

gp, I would suggest you call them (336-299-4843). Their telephone response is much better than their email response.

Had the same problem: call them, they will give you a new password. The last e-mail from them said the the servers would be off during weekends, which is why I had initially been unsuccessful.
