| I continue to be highly frustrated by the downgrade to the edit box. Prior to this version, you could set the absolute location of an object in the Edit box, which was highly useful. Now, that has been taken away. Is that functionality hidden somewhere that I'm missing? Using the Absolute Move is not a substitute... not by a long shot. Does anyone else other than me want to see this put back in?

Now if they only made it so you could enlarge the Font in the Edit Box so you can read it on these new Displays.
Am I the only one who sees this as a problem?

I had the same problem - but a different solution. I had drawn a polygon and wanted the area, which used to be down at the bottom of the edit window.
Hitting the green dot makes the window show more - or different? fields, but area still doesn't show up.
Answer, grab the bottom right hand corner of the edit window, and drag it to make it larger. Presto! Area shows up!

Steve,
Sorry to contradict, this seems like an great upgrade to me. I never cared what the absolute positions were. Not really never-- once or twice, so this is a good way of hiding unused information until you need it. I might even be the culprit who complained enough (about the fields which I found useless) for ES to listen. Certainly access to this info should be retained in some way.
I have the visibility problem too, but often have the window on a second monitor which is set to lower resolution.

Peter,
I have my Tool Palettes on my 17" Mac Book Pro as well but it is a long way to travel across a 30" cinema display to access them.
The Edit Box is used so often, it would help to be able to read it.

That's exactly my setup --I know what you mean. I sometimes have the edit box on the large screen.
Usually I access it by TAB but it is still a ways for your eyes to leave the work.
We are so spoiled, having lusted for the 30" hi-res display for years!

Since we "live" in the Edit Box it just makes sense to be able to set it up next to the work and not have to strain to read it.
I do not know about you but as the day (or Night) wears on I tend to slouch back in my chair and get further back from the screen which of course makes it even harder to read the Edit Box.

I've become addicted to the integrated apple zoom - hold down the ctrl button and scroll up with your mouse wheel. I use it when looking at my layers... alot.
PS we need a way to organize layers better - such as groups which can be collapsed / exposed.

nice idea but how does it work with sheets? Sounds complicated.
One things I would like--the layers windows to scroll to show active layer, that would help because other visible layers in a setup are often nearby. Layers at the top (where it now scrolls to) are usually not in general use.
A "sheets" window would be very helpful.
1. you could jump quickly between sheets with one click without pull-down menus. Something I've wanted for a long time.
2. The current sheet's layers (only) could be displayed in a functioning sidebar. so that navigation and manipulation of visible layers can be done without looking in the layer window.
3. You could create, rename, modify, delete sheets without the slow one-shot-at-a-time method now possible. You could reorganize or Alph-numerical the sheets list as you choose.

I'll bite, Could have 2 diff modes for layers window "simple mode" and "Ludacris" mode. Like the new drawing window in PC8 which I collapse the n00b bar at the top ever time I launch. One could right click the layer and be able to assign to a sheet or a number of sheets as well as a group via a simple check mark like our windows are active or not. not rocket science

I use sheets a lot (I can have 50 differents sheets in a drawing) and would adore a sheets window, with, important, a shortcut to go to next or previous sheet.
Falling about shortcuts, does somebody knows if there is a way to create a shortcut with these little blue arrows down-left of the drawing window ? I tried but did not succeed.
I work with 2 x 22' (and shall in some weeks have 2 x 24') : all the palets are on the left monitor, and I increased the mini window to a large size, it's very efficient. And I have this universal problem : impossible to read the layers windows. It would be nice to be able to chose the size font.
One more thing about the layer window, on PC8 : with PC7, when you work with a big amount of layers, colors where useful to recognize and catch them in a second. Now, you're oblished to read, it's slower. In an othe way, clear coloured layers (white, yellow..) where impossible to read in PC7. So I would suggest to keep the actual (PC8) layer window, just adding at the right of the layers names a rectangle with their colours.

| In fact, I would prefer on the left of the layers names. It's easier to read.
