There are new updaters for both PowerCADD and WildTools at www.engsw.com.
There is a new copy of NewTools in the WildTools ThinkTank. This allows you to turn on all new features developed so far for WildTools 8. See the beta/release notes for WildTools for details.
In particular, the Move Points tool has a few things almost anyone will be interested in.

Why does the WT7.1.1 download include French and English PDF manuals when there is a separate link for downloading the WT English manual?
Keeping manuals as separate downloads seems to make more sense. |

| The file that is available to me says New Tools 7.1.1 4/25/2004 (expires 7/1/04). When I download I get version 7.06 which won't load into with PCadd 6.1.1 |

Brian,
I think the reason is that there is one 'disk image' that goes on the shipping CD.
Mike,
NewTools goes in the WildTools folder, right beside WildThing.

When I download and install TestTools7.1.1 (into the PC6.1.1 WildTools folder) and launch PC, I get a message:
If I 'get info' on the NewTools plug-in, it says it is version 7.0.6, dated October 27,2003. |

Okay, I checked the version number. Even though it 'says' it is 7.0.6, if you look inside the package, you'll see that the NewTools is actually 7.1.1. With OS X, there are different places where this stuff goes, and I've just changed it. If you download the current one, it's idential to what you have, but it now says the right thing about the version number.
I say again, NewTools goes in the WildTools folder with WildTools, WildThing, etc. If you don't then you will get the compatibility warning.

Alfred, I don't want to be a pain, but I still can't get the new tools to load. I have the newest one you just uploaded. The version number is correct, but I still get the compatibility warning. I have it in the correct spot.
Thanks

Check to make sure you are launching the new version of PowerCADD (in the PowerCADD Profile)!
If the old software is still on your machine, even in the Trash, and you have not replaced the alias in the dock, you may be inadvertently trying to use NewTools with the old program. Sometimes double clicking a document to launch the program may cause the same problem. _________________ Phil Loheed |

I am having the same issues. And I have emptied the trash.
One other observation. The icons for the plug-ins in my POWERCADD 6.1.1 folder are all identical except for the "NEW TOOLS" it has an icon that looks like a powercadd 2000 plug-ins. _________________ robert d. wease ra, ncarb

I've emptied the trash, checked permissions, prebound, etc.
Interesting: when getting info. all (not just Wild Tools) my plug-ins have PCadd 2000 icons and and say open with PCadd 2000--except Wildthing. 2000 is on a different HD than my Startup drive as is OS 9. I've had to use 2000 while helping a friend and had classic on when updating.
Everything works, with the exception of New Tools not loading |

| I also replaced the dock icon with the initial upgrade, and I never start the progam by double clicking a file. |

I tried everything and still no go...
Alfred, are you sure you posted the right version of NewTools?
(I don't want to question your sanity, but it seems weird to me that the NewTools has a "date modifefied" of October 23, 2003, while WildThing and all the latest WildTools plug-ins have modifications dates of April 14, 2004... I admit I really don't know much about this stuff!)
thanks! |
