I received a Zipped email attachment from an ACAD using client.
The zipped file is 3.3MB.
Unzipping reveals 3 DWG files: file A at 8.5MB, files B and C at 1MB each.
Converting to PC6: File A becomes 30MB (all Model Space, No Paper Space)
Working with file A in PC6 I eliminate some things I do not need and add a couple of hundred relatively simple elements for my work. PC6 file size is now down to 27MB.
The client asks for a copy of the file. I convert my modified file A back to DWG and it is now 56.5MB! Zipping (with Stuffit Deluxe) gets it down to 15.6MB. I do not have good luck with clients being able to receive such large files by email. So mailed him a CD.
Does anyone know why the file has gotten so large? Any related tips?

Is it because several instances of a ACAD library object are converted to several individual figures in PCADD ? |
